You all know by now how much I think burpees suck; however, their conditioning benefits are amazing. To take advantage of these little magic fat fighters, I have been working burpee interval training. It’s intense and I hate my life while I am doing it, but alas, they work!

I do my burpee interval drills with a combination of burpees and shadow boxing (yes, you can say that again!)

Try the following;

  • 30 seconds of burpees
  • 30 seconds of shadow boxing
  • Continue for 2-3 minutes
  • Try not to die

Start off with 30 seconds of burpess and then go straight into shadow boxing for another 30 seconds. After your 2-3 minute round, take a 60 second break… you may need to make that 2 minutes… but try make it just 1 minute. Do as many as you can and don’t stress if you can’t do too many – build it up over time.

TIP: At first, you may have to monitor the time, but try to figure out how many burpees you can do in 30 seconds and how many punches you can do in 30 seconds, that way, you don’t always have to watch the time, you simply count them out.
